Last year, the NGT had passed an order restraining the builder, Skylark Buildcon and Oberoi Realty, from selling flats in the project’s free sale component till it provided 500 car parks for the slum rehabilitation buildings. MUMBAI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) told the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) and State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) on Monday to clarify whether a joint committee had inquired into alleged environmental violations in a Worli SRA project. Last year, the NGT had passed an order restraining the builder, Skylark Buildcon and Oberoi Realty, from selling flats in the project’s free sale component till it provided 500 car parks for the slum rehabilitation buildings. The tribunal had directed the committee to take necessary remedial action on alleged environmental clearance violations at the SRA project on Annie Besant Road in Worli. The NGT sought the clarification after admitting an execution application filed recently by two occupants of the slum rehabilitation component building. It issued a notice to the SRA chief executive officer and others for alleged non-compliance of its earlier order to provide 500 car parking spaces for the slum rehabilitation buildings. The NGT Western Zone, Pune bench of Justice D K Singh and Vijay Kulkarni, also issued notice to the developers as well as Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. The notices were issued after the NGT heard advocate Aditya Pratap for the applicants Santosh Patil and Manoj Salvi. For SEIAA, advocate Aniruddha Kulkarni appeared before the NGT and accepted notice. The duo, citing a February 2022 NGT order, sought orders to restrain the developers from selling any further flats till the order to provide 500 car parking slots is complied with. The NGT last year noted that “not a single parking has been provided in the rehabilitation tenements resulting in extreme congestion”.
